Today

I assume every high school has morning announcements  I tend to have selective hearing during that time. But today, I heard a quote that really interested me.

It really stood out to me and I am not sure why. I thought it would be a great thing to post. So I hope that you make this day something special. I know I will, I am going see Zac Brown Band tonight!!!

Dr Appointment

Today is the day. I finally made an appointment to go see my family doctor and get a wide variety of blood work done.  As some  you know, I am having a problem with my weight right now. I have always been a little on the heavier side, and just thought " oh I have time to lose it, I'm still young" I am still young, don't get me wrong :). But my dad has been having some issues and he went to see the neurologist yesterday about them. The Doctor seems to think most of it stems from him being overweight.

I am built identical to my dad. Which means, I have his genes and more than likely have inherited  his high cholesterol and slow butt metabolism. Unlike my mom and brother who can literally eat anything and not gain a lb. My brother has trouble gaining weight, and mom can eat a half gallon of chocolate chip ice cream (blue bell which is THE best) and not gain anything. So unfair!

The point is, I want to make sure I get things under control sooner rather than later. I am super worried that they will find something really wrong and tell me I have 4 weeks to live (crazy I know, but its something I worry about). Wish me luck and say a little prayer for me!!

5 for Five!!

I am linking up with Jenn and Jessica for 5 for Five  again this week.  I just love this link up. I catch myself checking on my list during the week to see if I have accomplished any of it, or what I need to get done!

(5 for Five)

Here is a recap of my last week...
Green means Accomplish.... Red mean Boo I failed and Purple means... I sort of started!!

Last weeks 5....

1. Spring Cleaning. This is purple because I only got thru the closet this week. But let me tell you, I cleaned the crap out of my closet. I ended up having 3 full bags that need to go to the local womens shelter. I feel really great about the progress that I made in there. It is amazing how much crap I had been holding on to for no reason at all.

2. Run my 5K this weekend in less than 36 min. SUCCESS!! See my post yesterday for the time!!

3. Join the YMCA. I was lucky enough that when I went in to join, the director of that current YMCA was standing at the front desk. I use to work for the YMCA in high school and he was my boss during that time. He waived all the joining fees and prorated my first month!! Great timing!

4. Lift 3 days this week. I got in 2 GREAT days of weight training in. So I will take that :)

5. Get things together. Updated some things and ready if the time comes!

All in all it was a very successful week for my 5 for five. Very happy with it.

Now for this weeks list goals

1. Go get my blood work done. I have been really struggling with my weight loss. I am taking the advice of my bestie, and going to get a full blood work up done. I am very nervous about this. I am so scared they will find something is majorly wrong and tell me I have 3 weeks to live. (Its so stupid, but my biggest fear)

2. Play at least 2 days of Tennis. This one will be hard to get in. I am for sure playing on Tuesday with my mom. Just need to make sure I fit in one more day.

3. Track my points 5/7 days. I joined Weight Watchers again. I just hate the act of tracking food. It is so time consuming and just not a fan of it. But I know it has worked in the past.

4. Take lots of pictures this week. I have a great week planned out! I am going to see Zac Brown Band on Thursday at the Rodeo. Then Friday-Sunday, Anthony and I are going to San Antonio. We decided for Valentines day this year that we would not get gifts for each other but go on a weekend trip. So San Antonio and Sea World it is! I am super excited.

5. Cook a new meal. I have been doing pretty good with this one. Anyone have a good meal I could try?

ConocoPhillips Rodeo 5K run

Saturday was a beautiful morning for a 5K race. It was one of those rare races that I have been in that started at 9:45. Not 730 or 8ish. This allowed for me sleep in a little. Which was awesome.

I have ran a few 5Ks in the last couple years, but have never really "trained for it" just sort of done it on a whim. This one, I am in the middle of training for a 10K so I thought I would set a goal for myself. All my other race times have been between 38-35 minutes. So for this one, I wanted to be done in less than 36 minutes.  One of the major downsides to this race was that it was not a timed race. The 10K was the only timed race of the day.  I have been using an app called Mapmyrun during my training days, so I figured I would go by the time off that.

There were so close to 10 thousand people running the 5K so it took a while to get across the start line. The scenery was nice. The beginning of the race was along the same route as the parade that would be going on after the run. So, there were lots of people lined up and they were cheering people along. It was pretty cool.

I ended up actually killing my goal of less than 36 minutes. My app said that my time was 31:07!! The thing that makes me wonder is that the app said the course was a total of 3.45 miles once I crossed the finish line. The clock on the end read 34:55. Considering it took me a good 2 minutes to even get across the start line, I think I did pretty dang well, even on the "race clock". But at the end of the day, I am going to go by my app time because that is what I have been training off of!! I added some pictures that I took while I was waiting the 45 minutes for the race to start.

Hope everyone has had an enjoyable weekend! I got to end the day by having a blast at the Houston Rodeo Cook off with Anthony and Jordanna. I took a couple pictures and will have to write a post this week.

Have a great rest of the weekend!!

I heart Friday

It is Friday and I am so glad that it is

Like usual, I am linking up with Jeanett @ LifeRearranged for Insta-Friday. Enjoy.

This picture was taken one morning on the road to Anthony's house. The road is tree-lined and absolutely beautiful.
Even though Valentines day was last week. I amazingly still have my tulips alive semi alive. I took this picture one more because the colors on the tulips are just so gorgeous. Tulips are slowly  becoming my favorite flowers.
When I found out that our boys basketball team would be having a play off game in College Station, I jumped on the chance to go work it.  In college we would spend most EVERY Tuesday during the school year at Rosas Tacos for Taco Tuesdays. The closest one to me right now is in College Station. Soooooo I jumped on that opportunity to go eat Rosas ON a Tuesday. It was amazing.
I am still sending my bestie my accountability shots!! This was after a run on the treadmill. It was not easy. But I am glad I got it done. Even though I am struggling with my weight, I am slowly getting into a work out mode.  Lets see how long I can keep it up.
Anthony has a friend that is getting married in April. This is their RSVP card. Anthony made me write in it because I have much better hand writing then him. (How many boys really have great handwriting? My roommate happens to be one of those girls that has perfect handwriting. I'm always jealous of it!) I have seen this type of RSVP on Pinterest several times, but never actually seen one in person. Anthony thought it was the funniest thing, and had a blast trying to figure out what to put in the blanks.
Look at Carter!!!! Picture says it all. ADORABLE

This is the  Vera Bradley bag that I bought. I know that I talked about it in a previous post, I am just THAT  excited for it to get here.  :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I have my 1st 5K of the year tomorrow and I am ready for it!
Anyone doing anything fun this weekend?

Online Shopping

Online Shopping is awesome.

I always forget how great it is until around Christmas time. But lately  yesterday I remembered and got caught up buying stuff. OOPS.

I got an email from retailmenot.com with a coupon for Erin Condren. For those you who don't know her products, go give them a look. You will love them! I stumbled upon her Life Planner almost a year ago and absolutely fell in love with it.

I was so excited for this to come in last June. It  was to the point where my roommate, friend and I would all get super excited when the status's of our planners changed.

For Christmas, my boyfriends awesome parents bought me some note pads from there that say " From the desk of.... meganoney" It works great when I need to leave a coach to come see me or want to leave them an update on an athlete.
Aren't they super cute?? I think I got 4  or 5 in total.

Well with my coupon, I bought a new notebook. I am so excited for it to get here. I am planning to use it for anything and everything!! Instead of putting my name on the front, I put "Everything I need"
(Source)

I also happen to have a $20 off coupon for Vera Bradly. I have personally never bought anything from them. But I have a friend who has one of the big totes and she uses it all the time! I have admired it for a good 2 years. So I decided it was time to take the plunge and buy one. I lucked out, I got one that was already 50% off then I took and EXTRA $20 off!!  I am so excited for it to come in. The shipping says it should be here in just a few days.

Does anyone else enjoy online shopping? What are some of your favorite websites?

Fishy Fishy

Everyone once and a while a new tune comes on the radio that I really like, or a new jingle for a commercial does the same. But it has been a while since one has really stuck in my head like the new McDonald's Fishy Fishy commercial  rap. Now, I don't like fish and I would never eat "Fish Bites" . I just happen to love a good jingle!

Enjoy and please.. dance like I do when it begins!

p.s  Samantha @ Mary in a Martha totally knows what I'm talking about!!

5 for Five!

Oh Monday. This is going to be a long week.
I am linking up with Jenn and Jessica for 5 for Five  again this week.

(5 for Five)

Here is a recap of my last week...
Green means Accomplish.... Red mean Boo I failed and Purple means... I sort of started!!

Last weeks 5....

1.Spring Cleaning. I started on this one. Cleaned out some drawers. This one will be on this list for a couple weeks.

2. Get in 3 days of running this week. I did get in one run. But I am not going to give this purple. I just wasn't feeling it last week.

3. Pick up my dress for Saturday. Yes I did!! :) The wedding was awesome on Saturday. I even caught the bouquet.

4. Make Anthony's Valentines Bouquet.  It wasn't as nice as the one I saw on Pinterest but I still think it was cool.

5. Make chocolate brownie bars. Didn't even think about it. I made normal brownies, but not the brownie bars. Maybe this weekend.

Overall it wasn't the best week that I have had. It was a strange week though.  I vow to have a much better week this week!!

This weeks goals

1. Spring Cleaning. I need to really get better on this one.

2. Run my 5K this weekend in less than 36 min.  Wish me luck!

3. Join the YMCA. I miss doing a spin class and those types of classes.

4. Lift 3 days this week. I am slowly starting to see some toning results from lifting the last couple weeks

5. Get things together. There is a possible major change that could happen (don't want to mention it just yet) but I need to make sure I have all my paperwork in order and make a pro's and con's list.

Frustration above anything else

Let me start off by saying that I am not in a great mood or mind set as I write this entry. I have a lot of frustrations on my mind and I am just trying to get some of them out.

My awesome roommate got me a Fit Book for Christmas.  It is pretty dang awesome! It is a 12 week plan. There is are spaces for weekly goals, to plan out you are eating that week, what exercise you will be doing that week and all that jazz. There are also pages for each day of the week that are designed for a food log, nutrient tracker, water tracker, sleep tracker, and work outs. I love it!! It has really made me think about what I am eating and if I am getting all the nutrition in that I need to be.

(Source)

My Frustration lies in the fact that I am on week 7 and I have lost 2 lbs. Granted I have lost an inch here or there. But I have lost 2 lbs overall.  Now, let me be honest. I have not eaten great EVERY DAY. BUT I have been doing several things that should have made more of a difference in my mind.

I now eat breakfast EVERY DAY. This is a huge step for me. I am the queen of getting donuts, or a kolache or just not eating breakfast and snacking till lunch. I have been making eggs, bacon, toast, and having fruit. Some times I cheat a little and have 2 or 3 cinnamon rolls instead, or some biscuits.  I have switched from white bread to whole wheat bread, and I have also worked hard to get in fruits and veggies. Not to mention that I LOVE Dr.Pepper. I have totally cut those out of my daily diet. I have one every now and then, but that is it.

If I looked at what I ate 3 months ago compared to today, it is a world of a difference. Yes, I feel better, yes I have lost 2 lbs, yes I have also lost some inches. But I am still at a weight that every time I step on the scale, I want to cry.

The last 2 1/2 weeks I have also been working out 5 days a week. It may be running, or just lifting. But I have been doing some sort of physical activity.

People have been telling me that I will see results soon, that I don't need to concentrate on the actual weight number, go on how I feel, or how my clothes fit. That is all fine and dandy, but at the end of the day, I am still not losing any actual weight and that number really bothers me. I just don't understand at times. Right now is one of those times that I don't see the point in working so hard if I am not going to see enough of a pay off.  That there is no point making there changes in my diet, if its not going to make a difference. I may not be gaining any weight, but I sure as heck am not losing weight.

I guess I am just trying to get this all off  my chest. I feel a lot better now that I have written this (and possibly teared up a little... but if you know me.. I tear up at anything and everything). Does anyone have any advice of what I could change or do?  Thanks for reading!

New Blogging Friend

There was a point in all our lives ( those whose blog) that we were once a newbie. I still consider myself a newbie (I am still trying to get the hang of this, but I enjoy it more and more everyday) The point is, I want to give a shout out to my friend Samantha. She created her first blog today!! I am so happy for her, and super excited to read it. Yesterday we had a conversation about blogs and it went like this

Samantha: I want to blog, but have no idea what to blog about lol
Me: It gets easier.
Samantha: haha yeah, but all I do is work, workout and sleep lol kinda boring life

This coming from the girl that in her FIRST blog post, it was longer than my first 3 put together!!! So if you are looking for a new Godly, witty, grammatically correct (because I am 100% positive mine never is), and positive outlook on life, then go check out Mary in a Martha Blog!!

5 for Five!!

Its Monday!! How is the weather where you are? It is rainy here. The forecast calls for 100% rain for part of the day. Exciting. :) I am linking up with Jenn and Jessica for 5 for Five  again this week. This link up keeps me motivated for getting things done during the week.

Here is a recap of my last week...
Green means Accomplish.... Red mean Boo I failed and Purple means... I sort of started!!

1) Begin Spring Cleaning of my apartment.  Didn't really happen to much. I did get a lot done in my bathroom though. So that is at least a start.

2) Get 3 days of weight training in. Heck Yes!! I did that AND got in all my runs.

3) Returns to Target. Done!

4) Eat right 5 each day during the week. Not great, but okay. My veggies are just so hard to get in.

5)  Make at least ONE of the Valentines decorations off Pinterest. I made the heart cake balls yesterday. I am not very good at the icing part of them. They look pretty bad, but the boys told me that they are pretty dang tasty.

Well I had NO red. Which is really good. Just need to make sure I do better on the eating part.

This weeks 5....

1.Spring Cleaning. This needs to be done. So until its completed, it will be on the top of my 5 for five.

2. Get in 3 days of running this week. I have been really good at getting in 3-4 days. I am only planning 3 this week because it is going to be a crazy week.

3. Pick up my dress for Saturday. I am in a wedding on Saturday and I need to pick up my dress from the alterations lady.

4. Make Anthony's Valentines Bouquet. I am making him one that I found on Pinterest. I just need to put it all together. I have an early week at work so I am going to leave it for him so he will see it when he wakes up.

5. Make chocolate brownie bars. I like to make them for holidays.

What are some of your goals for the week? Anything new? or is it the same old normal stuff?

Insta-Friday Link Up!

It is Friday again!!! (does anyone ever get sick of seeing Friday on their calender? I mean really?)

Linking up with Jeanett @ LifeRearranged  Instagram pictures. I made sure I took some extra pictures this week so I would have more than just 5 to share!

Is this the cutest dog every? I told her to hop up on the bed and that is how she laid down. Head on the pillow and everything!!

That is right. # 5 Kansas had an EPIC upset. It just so happened to be in the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum on the Texas Christian University Campus, Yep.. TCU Mens Basketball had their first Big 12 win on the season!! Look Out Big 12.

Our lovely baseball coach "forgot" to inform us of a scrimmage on a Monday evening. I was not happy. Thankfully, I had my iPad with me. So I got to do a little pinteresting while watching some baseball.
Went out for a friends 2nd bachlorette party. Decided to do my hair, make up and all that jazz

Went for a run on a new trail the other day. It was really nice! To bad it pretty much dead ended and I had to turn around. Wasn't happy about that part.
I absolutely love my cat Blue. She was fast asleep here and I couldn't help but want to take a picture of her and all her fluffiness!!

I found this picture on my Facebook the other day. This was blue probably the first week we got her. She was absolutely adorable (still is!) As you can tell her name is Blue, because of her eyes in this picture. I miss her being that young :(
Found this wine at Walmart the other day. Decided to give it a try. It was actually really dang good. Not as sweet as most red wines. Give it a try!
Isn't that a pretty rainbow? We got some rain during the week and on my drive home I happened to see
beautiful rainbow.

Chicken & Spinach Pasta Bake

Once a week, I have been trying to make a new meal, or at least  new side.  So far it has been going pretty well. I have a couple recipes I need to post but I just had to post this one. Guess where I found it?...I'll give you two guesses. If you guessed the infamous Pinterest then you are correct!!! So here it is!

Chicken & Spinach Pasta Bake

  • 8 oz uncooked rigatoni (I actually put in 16 oz because we both really like pasta)
  • 1 T olive oil
  • 1 c chopped onion
  • 1 (10 oz) pack frozen spinach, thawed
  • 3 c cubed, cooked chicken breasts
  • 1 (14 oz) can Italian-style diced tomatoes (the original asked for undrained. I didn't drain mine after reading reviews that said not to)
  • 1 (8 oz) container Philadelphia chive & onion cream cheese
  • ½ t salt, ½ t pepper
  • 1½ c shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 can Mushrooms (Ants and I both love mushrooms. So it was a nice addition)

Prepare rigatoni according to pkg directions.  Spread oil on bottom of 11×7 in baking dish; add onion in a single layer.  Bake at 375 for 15 minutes or just until tender.  Transfer onion to large bowl, set aside.
Drain chopped spinach well, pressing between paper towels.  Stir in rigatoni, spinach, chicken, & next 4 ingredients into onion in bowl.  Spoon mixture into dish & sprinkle evenly with shredded mozzarella cheese.  Bake covered at 375 for 30 minutes; uncover & bake 15 more minutes or until bubbly.

Do you have any other really great recipes? I am really loving learning to cook new things!

Great Day!

Monday was not really a great day. It seemed like my hormones, my uterus, my head baseball coach and the whole world wanted to gang up on me.  Then Tuesday came around. What a great day it was!  I have never been a fan of being in a bad mood for two straight days. Have one day, get it all out then wake up the next day with a smile on your face.

Waking up Tuesday, I knew it was going to be a  wonderful day.  On the way to work I needed to stop and get gas. I stopped at Kroger.  I put in my Kroger card number and it asked if I wanted to use my 10 cents off or 20 cents off!! I have never seen the 20 cents off, so of-course I selected yes!

I ended up getting in a great Kettlebell workout.

Our boys basketball beat the district champions! Which was very unexpected but very nice!!

The day ended with me randomly getting free Chick Fil A after a late night of basketball games.

None of those sound like day changing things, but I guess I was in a good mood when I woke up so these just added to my day!!

5 for Five

I am linking up with Jenn and Jessica for 5 for Five

Here is a recap of my last week...
Green means Accomplish.... Red mean Boo I failed and Purple means... I sort of started!!

1) Drop off my bridesmaid dress to be altered. Done and Done!! Plus its going to cost me ONLY $ 36 to have it altered AND Steam Cleaned... Winning!

2) Run 3 times this week. I actually got in 4 runs. Very proud of myself. I am trying extremely hard to stick to my schedule.

3) Mail my brothers Birthday Card. So Yes, I mailed the card. On Friday. Which means it won't get there till Monday. Which really isn't THAT bad, because I also put my Besties card in the mail at the same time....... her birthday was December 30th.  :)

4) Organize my bathroom closet. Fail. I just got busy.

5) Start one of my 2 new books. Over Christmas I got several books. I forget how much I love to read. So at Target last night, I bought 2 new ones.

So I went 4/5 this past week. Not to shabby.

This weeks 5 for five are...

1) Begin Spring Cleaning of my apartment.  Since the ground hog saw his shadow, we will have an early spring. So I need to get going on Spring Cleaning.

2) Get 3 days of weight training in. I have been noticing in pictures that my arms are getting flabby. Must work on this now!

3) Returns to Target. Such a simple task, such a pain in the butt though.

4) Eat right 5 each day during the week. A balanced breakfast, lunch and dinner. I had a HUGE wake up call on my nutrition and exercise last week. Very needed though.

5)  Make at least ONE of the Valentines decorations off Pinterest. Here is that post.

Insta Friday

I just love Instagram.

Linking up with Jeanett @ LifeRearranged  for some good ole Instagram pictures.

ENJOY :)

She isn't even technically my dog but look at the cute face. We were working on "Go lay down in your bed" the other day. She was sick of me telling her to do it apparently.

I am trying to branch out and make new dishes. This was one that I made Wednesday night. Will need to change it up alittle bit it was pretty good.  Here is the Link: Chicken with Mushroom and Mozzarella
This was lunch the other day. Chicken and some sauteed bell peppers. It was yummy.

Jude again!! We were on our way to the dog park to play with Carter. Jude is such a Priss at the dog park. Won't really run around much and stays by my side most the time. But get her home and take her off the leash.... BAM- she is rolling around in dog poop 4 yards away.... WHYYY?!?!?!?? She is still adorable though. Hates baths!
There is a story.. I promise :)   My Bestie is a personal trainer in another town. So, to show her my accountability I have to take a picture after every workout and send it to her. This is my "ugggh, two a days kill me!!" face. I wasn't a happy camper.
